ViewSonic answer about VP181 panel

  • This is the ViewSonic answer to a question about VP181 panel technology.

Thanks to free.it.comp.hardware.monitor newsgroup user "dpk®"

    Dear Mr xxxxxxxxxxxx,

Your e-mail below has been passed to me for a response, thank you for
    your enquiry.

The current VP181s-2 and VP181b-2 are effectively new models as they
were introduced at least two years following the end-of-life for the
original model. There have been no major panel changes in the current
versions since their introduction in the Summer 2003, although there
have been a few minor changes in this time frame. I can confirm that
all VP181s/b-2 models have had and currently do have Super-IPS panels.

I am sorry to hear that you may have some issues with this product and
I suggest that you contact your local ViewSonic service agent (contact
details in the User Guide and/or on the ViewSonic web site) in order
to ascertain whether there is a fault with your product.

    Best Regards
    xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

  • Heya miomao,

what was the problem you were having with the VP181b?

Im still sitting here with the DVI-problem and just got told by Infocare (who talked to Viewsonic) that there is no solution to this DVI-problem and there will not be one.

So basicallly im stuck with a 50% working TFT :( Truly a shame cause i love all the other things about it. :(

  • Thanks for the news. The big question is: what kind of LG panel do they use. I will try to find that out.

The newsgroup user dpk® has sent an e-mail to ViewSonic to have confirms about VP181 panel technology.
He don't have any malfunctioning problem, but he thought that the monitor was too slow.

I don't know your DVI problem, but I think you can open a thread in the Help section to have some support.

In the site there is a LM181E06 panel.
But seem to be faster than predecessor with 25ms vs. 30ms.

I think the LCD speed is also a "personal sensibility" matter, and the VP181 purchased by dpk® is not different from others... ?(
