Nec 1980i panel doubts

  • This photo from the CeBit leaves me a little astonished.

These look as the 1980sx successor features... but the viewing angle and contrast ratio is the same of the 1960NXi model. 8o

This does me come the doubt that the new 1980i panel is the same LG.Philips.
Unfortunately the response time is not declared.

    Where is the truth?
Really Nec don't has any proprietary 19'' panel?
    ?(

    Thanks

  • Yep, that seems to be the fact.

I have got the official handbook now. The only thing which is different, is the response time.

  • So the AnandTech collaborator was right... :)

He said that LG.Philips make the panels for NEC and they had a 16ms 19'' panel in test production.

The panel probably is the LM190E02:

I'm sorry NEC will discontinue his 18/19 inch panels... :(
Seem Japan will exit from the LCD panels battle (with some exception)

  • This is a really bad news.

So there's no new nec s-ips panel on the 1980sxi. We are always talking about the already known LG.Philips panel (no bad ok, but it's not what we were thinking to see on it).

I think this is an important news for who is waiting for this new tft (i am one of them).

So at the moment on which product (in all sizes) is possible to find a nec s-ips panel over 18"?

Is there any chance that this is only a temporary solution, to use an lg panel, on 1980sxi display, or maybe it is definitive?

....what a bad bad news. :(

  • There is no doubt: it will be a LG Panel. That s****!

The 19" NEC IPS Panel has so many problems. To get the production work and a high quality panel, the price for the 1980sxi would be around 1200-1300E.

  • With Koreans that can have high production capacity at low cost, I think the NEC choice is not a surprise...

But why you talk so bad about LG panels? ?(

Now the LG.Philips 25ms is considered the fastest 19'' LCD and the new 16ms version can only be better (I hope).
The reason is the "crystalline effect" or you would like a deeper black?

  • Mmmm.....it sounds like a surprise.

Do you have any information about Eizo 797 or any link?

    When it will be available?

  • I hate the LG politics. I know a lot of stuff which they do in the background and what kind of products they are building. I´m really not happy with them. The crystal effect is really a bad feature in my opinion, i would prefer those REBK-Streams against the crystal effect, really.

We have some pictures of the 797 in the german section, I will give you the link later. I tested the 797 in japan. It was a nice device, good for players - in my opinion-, the 1980i is probally better, and excellent colours.

    Release-date: around july i hope.

  • I don't like so much the crystalline effect of the LG.Philips panels too. :(
I've seen with my eyes that Hitachi and IDTech can make IPS panels where this effect is nearly absent.

I know the new EIZO models only by the sisiphos CeBit photos.
    No informations available online.
In the stands you can read:
    FlexScan L568
    FlexScan L768
    FlexScan L797

If sisiphos can give the full size photos, maybe we can read the features description...

  • Zitat

    Original von chipsy
excellent colors for the 797 or the nec?

which kind of panel does the 797 have, do you know that?

For the 797 of course. The guy in the shop in tokio talked about an AVS or IPS panel. He wasn´t that sure. I think it is the new AVS panel by sharp which was planned to be used in the new generation of LCD-TVs.

miomao: I will talk to him to get copies of the pics to enlarge them!

  • sisiphos has published his 1024x768 size photos, but I still can't read the Eizo monitors specs. :(

I've read in the German News section that L568 have 1000:1 contrast.
This let me think it have the latest Samsung PVA panel.

We can use some image processing software from NASA to read the viewing angle and contrast ratio values... :]

  • Thanks Totamec!

In the L568 and L768 photos in fact the contrast value before the 1 look like four digits number (1000:1 PVA), but not in the L797 one.
Perhaps the L797 will use the same mysterious panel fo the CG19 with 450:1 contrast (?)
    Only vain suppositions... :)

  • Sometime the solution is so evident we can't see... :D

The CG19 (and probably new L797) have a Dual Domain IPS panel.

Usually these kinds of panels are produced by IDTech (IBM).
I remember the "old" L685 image was super with no crystalline effect... but very strange trail effect with moving images.

    We will see...

  • Zitat

where do you know about the 797 the same panel?

I don't have the absolute certainty... but seems normal that top of the line has the best panel, and by now I know Eizo habits. ;)

  • So,

I have got 2 informations for you: the 797 might have a 16ms MVA panel - shop 1- shop 2 told me that the first ones will have a MVA panel with 25ms and the later production-series will have an IBM-IPS panel.

Sorry for this undetailed informations :( Not my type normally, you know that. But I cannot calculate which is right.
