Try to ask him in his 24" review thread. Yes, it's in German, but ask anyways and/or ask him about the pm...
Thanks but I think to have the answer...
Chrisz have exchanged the S2231W with a S2431W due to so called "rainbow effect".
Italian purchasers are confirming the issue.
Colors in the S2231W panel are a bit cold in the left edge and a bit warm in the right edge.
But they say that the difference is very-very small.
Surely Chrisz has bought an unlucky sample. -
No response from the user Chrisz.
22'' or not 22''... this is the hamletic doubt...
-
I know that the S2231W has better specs than S2431W.
The problem is that there are important not-written aspects.
Like backlight uniformity.Thanks again traveller.

I think you can put some more Euro (not too much) for a Lenovo L220X.
This is a S-PVA panel with WXUGA resolution and wide-gamut lamps.
Maybe it's not the best 22'' on the planet but a step ahead the low-viewing-angled TNs. -
Thanks for the answer.
So, I think there are only sporadic problems with the S2231W...Do you think the big brother S2431W is a more reliable choice?
There is near 150 Euro price difference. -
Hello!
I want to buy a S2231W in Germany (because in Italy Eizos have awful prices) but in this forum I've found any sort of complaints.- rainbow effect (horizontal color issue)
- X effect (backlight issue)
- boring noise (inverter issue)What's happening?
Wide-gamut lamps are all defective?
Or Eizo is starting to make monitors like AOC?

Usually PVA panels without overdrive shows heavy ghosting and LCD panels gets improved color calibration over years.
So, I think the 2007wfp is a better choice for you purpose.
Even better would be the new Eizo S2031W. -

It seems that also the colorimeter don't like too much 226CW.
In another forum a user say me that the 931CW (wide-gamut lamps too) have a CMO panel.
May be the same for the 22''?I think the second hypothesis is that Samsung picked wide-gamut lamps that improve color gamut while worsen colors accuracy.
It would be a bit funny... -
I'm not in the staff but I've the answer...
I think they talks about the Hi-FRC dithering.
This kind of dithering can emulate 16,7M of colors Vs. 16,2M colors of old FRC dithering. The Hi-FRC was developed by Chi Mei Optoelectronics and now is used by many other manufacturers (like Samsung).
The HP w2207 is declared 16.2M colors.
This can means that the panel use the old dithering method but...
some purchaser says it have a LG.Philips panel and all 22'' LGP panels are declared 16,7M colors.Anyway, this is not a big issue.
The real problem of "any" current 22'' LCD is the viewing angle. -
The L246WP are selling in USA for 599.99$.
Note that this is not a cheap TN panel monitor with frustrating viewing angle.
It probably mount a AMVA panel and have HDMI and video input. The price at current change is equivalent to 434 Euro.
obviously I don't hope to have this price in Europe.
But I think it's a very good sign...P.S.
I've to specify... 434 EUR, tax not included.
Maybe we can charge at least a 20% (?)
The result is 520 EUR. -
More than 100 views and not a single opinion?
I want to buy a widescreen replacement for my "old" 970P and the 215TW departure isn't a good news.
With the explosion of TN panels mania I have some doubt to see affordable high quality LCDs in the future.
