    Greetings

  • This are Mitsubishi TFTs, produced by NEC, right?

The modell-no. remembers me on them. Maybe a good alternativie, cause: Mitsubishi and LG are not the best friends ;)

  • Elsewhere I've read the panels are from AUO.

Unfortunately NEC and LG seem to cooperate... :)
Like in the 1960NXi and "maybe" the 1980SXi case.

  • Made by AUO? Interesting. I have got not such information, but I will ask around a bit ;)

  • Only one year ago talk about a 19'' TN sound crazy.
After all the efforts to extend the viewing angle with MVA, IPS, ...
Today the regress look normal because people want 19'' for gaming.
I hope for a big fiasco and that they return to work on serious panels. ;)

  • I´m still waiting on the 20" TN Panel by AUO. In my opinion, AUO and Sharp are the last quality players on the market right now.

LG is still seeling B-panels, or how do you want to call this quality status.

NEC has only the 21" panel right now which works fine. Nothing else. The 18" IPS are sold out and produced with new design by LG.

And I thought, they are companies which want to stay in business! ?(

  • The topic TNs are much better than the very first TN's. The viewing angle is good to the left and right; the vertical angle could be better, of course. The image and the colors, contrast and brightness can be compared to those of some IPS Panels. So the one and only disadvantage is from my point of view the viewing angle. But taking the advantages in "Gaming" into account I don't think that good TNs aren't "serious". It's just another technique and it has advantages as well as disadvantages; so the customer has to decide what he uses the display for to get his optimal one.

  • Your discourse is well-balanced rinaldo...
Is only that I want to see a 19'' with real colors, 180 degrees viewing angle and 16ms response time fast as possible. :]

  • Of course, so do I ; ). But to reach that it's better to develop three techniques with different potentials than to risk reaching a blind alley by concentrating on just one or two of them.

And by the way: TFT technique IS already a huge step in display technologie. Compared to a CRT the colors are beautiful and real! One has to note that, too. And some people say only the Germans have this special view that anything has to be perfect *g* ;)

So no LG device ;) :)

I think we have to wait till the end of summer and take a look on the new techniques by Sharp.

  • Now I'm try to sell my L767 also to cover some expenses...
If I succeed without lose an arm and a leg, maybe later this year or next year I will buy a new LCD.

Also the new Eizo L768 and L788 would be interesting...

  • They are coming. I made some calls today and i got dates for releases around july. I hope I will get some more informations about the products.

  • Eizo Italia say they will have something about 2004 models in the end of May.

I hope also Iiyama this year will replace the ancient AS4821DT. :)

  • I don´t think so. Which panel do they want to use? They will have exclusive contracts with LG in the 19" sector.

I wish we will get some more action on the market, but the future is quit dark at that point.

  • Hello.
I'm very interested in reading about and possibly buying the new NEC RDT194S as soon as i can get it.

Are there any place i can find info about it, besides the french article that started this thread?
I cant find a word about it on the NEC homepages i looked at.

    Thanks.

  • I did some more searching myself, and found out that the RDT194S has been on the market since May, in Japan.
So i would assume that its about the time where it should appear in Europe(?).
I found some links that may be of interest to others :

Not so much new information in them, but atleast there is some pictures of the monitor.
When you look at the last link on the mitsubishi page, there is a bunch of monitors called something with ''RDT ***'' but only the 194 and 179 models are marked as ''new''.
What worries me is that there is no NEC or Mitsubishi 'RDT ***' monitors at all, in the prad feature guide database. Atleast some of the older RDT types should be there ,right ?
So maybe these monitors will never get to Europe, or maybe they will, but under a different model number ?

If anyone can shed some more light on this topic i would very much appreciate it.
