ZitatImagine to take a good panel like in the 1880SX and fine-tune it with a FFD circuitry.
Slurp!!
But someone say is an expensive technology and this explain why there are not final products.

I say "Rolls-Royce vs. FIAT" for Eizo vs. Samsung
...or is better Mercedes vs. Hyunday
I'm sure NEC 1980SX quality is comparable or better than Eizo L767.
But marder has quoted "Syncmaster 191T".
I have tried the 191T and in my modest opinion, this is not a high-end monitor but an expensive low-end.
Rolls-Royce vs. FIAT
LOL
Thanks
Please...
can someone correctly translate the word "Weideblitz" to english?
There is everywhere and the translator does it become "pasture lightning".
Thanks 1000
Thanks for the link Jetson!!
There is a explanation of FFD that anyone can understand.
Interesting to know that:
"It exists completely in the controller circuitry"
The only wrong thing is this forecast:
"FFD will be incorporated in mass-production LCD panels starting in the first quarter of 2002. "
Yes, many marketing words...
Only seeing a real monitor we can know the real FFD benefits, and how much expensive is this technology.
I like the Eizo L767 too.
I have found a very nice review but.... it is written in Polish.
With the polish-english translator the result is not very good.
I have understanded L767 has great OSD and software, wide viewing-angle, contrast and birghtness.
Predictably... Its Fujitsu MVA panel is not fast as Iiyama AS4637UT Nec IPS panel.
I'm still oriented to L685 what is surely one of the better 18''...
Mitsubishi Electric say to have new LCD with "Compression Feed-forward Driving" (cFFD) and that this technology produces a clear, moving picture display .
So, we can finally see some real product?
New NEC 19'' IPS + Mitsubishi cFFD = super monitor?
Dark black is really very good, but I don't know if a high quality model like Nec 1980SX can make the same with PVA panel.
However you be wise to wait...
When all the bigs (Nec, Hitachi, LG, ...) have their 19'' panel we can see who is the real winner.
Nec 1880SX
Iiyama AS4637UT
Eizo L695
Philips 180P2
Sony X82/P82
For many top 18'' monitors the IPS is the choice, and this say something...
Sorry Nephylim but I can write only in eglish...
In my personal experience with some LCD monitors I have the opportunity to compare IPS and MVA/PVA panels and I think this:
1 - IPS make darker color shades very well, but MVA to make the same need more lamps light.
The result is IPS can preserve deeper black .
2 - IPS has large viewing angle and the image is accurate all over the panel.
MVA is large too but in the bottom right corner I see a little translucent effect.
3 - IPS has softer ghosting .
25ms MVA is faster in black-white switching, but 35ms IPS is less annoying in colorful moving graphics (like games).
4 - IPS has not optical asymmetry .
If you pivot a MVA/PVA panel you can see every pixel line as separated.
This is only my opinion and is possible some issues are due to single monitor model.
A great thing can be to compare NEC 1880SX with 1980SX.
Ciao
It can sound crazy...
but the best monitor I have tried with U.T.2003 is the Eizo L565.
35/40ms on paper
Samsung 172T is however faster than 191T but....
- low quality with analog connection
- bright black
- few regulations with digital connection
- cheap construction
- high price
NEC 1760NX with 16ms panel???
I found 21'' is a better size at 1600x1200 resolution,
but anyone has his tastes...
I start to think the 700:1 contrast of 1980SX is due to Nec optimism.
So with the new Hitachi + Nec IPS 19'' super-panel we can expect a supposed 1990SX... sometime in future.
Thanks for the answer and the review.
A final question for Prad forum
Looking NEC 1980SX as probably the best existing PVA monitor (MVA double)..................
we are able finally to say which technology is better from MVA and IPS?
(forgetting MVA panels has optical asymmetry not suitable for pivot feature)
"LCD Digital DVI Input" = best LCD
3 - I don't remember where... ZDNet?
I've found an article comparing L685 to 1880SX and they conclude L685 image quality is a little better.
I've seen Nec 1850 and Eizo L565 and I have the same feeling...
However DisplayMate show L685 and 1880SX like the two best LCD on the market, and I think this is the truth.
Precisely... internal 10 bit color is not a fake and is not intended to display 1 billion colors.
It help the monitor to make better regulations, but how much this influence on image quality I don't know.
But I personally found image quality most important than many features.
All says "Eizo LCDs is not so much better..." but I compared a L565 to Acer AL922, Sony X82, Samsung 191T and... is really much better.
Remember I'm in Italy... price and availability of 1980SX can be much different from Germany.
I found L685EX more convincing than 1880SX because...
1 - I have tried Eizo L565 (Hitachi panel?) and image is beautiful with smaller "crystalline effect" than IPS panels from Nec and LG.
2 - All professional reviews say L685 has better image quality than 1880SX (DisplayMate and two others I have found)... and L685EX has improved color management.
3 - I have trust in Eizo brand. Nec make anything necessary to sell... Eizo has only top quality models on catalog.
So, in absence of a direct comparison...
