With the X4500 and W4500 series, Sony is presenting two new top class BRAVIA model ranges at the IFA 2008 in Berlin. The 55 and 46 inch models in the X4500 series come with an RGB Dynamic LED backlight with local dimming for the first time as well as the new Motionflow PRO 100Hz technology and network features, and will enthuse buyers with their delicate "Floating Design" with transparent frames. The W4500 series, which us also new, sets new standards for image quality and features in the higher middle class.
State of the art: BRAVIA X4500 series
The BRAVIA models in the X4500 series, available in the new sizes 55 inches and 46 inches, offer image quality which has not been possible to date and will cause enthusiasm through their exciting design.
With four HDMI ports, there are sufficient inputs for the connection of external projects. Input signal processing is taken on by the new BRAVIA ENGINE 2 PRO, which filters and optimises the incoming signal extensively so that a visible improvement is achieved for all image parameters on the 1080p Full HD LCD panel.
A detailed image which is also the best possible in films with standard resolution? This s no problem for the models in the new X series. Thanks to DRC (Digital Reality Creation) in the latest Generation 3.0, the new model scale every signal perfectly to the 1,920 x 1.,80 pixels of the monitor.

A full black and outstanding image brilliance are the characteristics of the X4500 models. These are achieved thanks to the new backlight: instead of the conventional technology, Sony has used RGB Dynamic LEDs with local dimming in the new X4500 series. Individual LED fields can be controlled separately by the processor and dimmed or switched off where necessary. The use of red, green and blue LEDs provides ca larger colour palette in comparison to conventional white LEDs and thus ensures a realistic display of Blu-ray discs, DVD and TV.
In the X4500 series, the next generation of Sony 100 Hertz technology is used in the form of Motionflow PRO 100Hz. This allows the new models to shine with a realistic display of fast movements such as sports broadcasts, for example, or action scenes with frequent image movements. Motionflow calculates inter-frames, enters these in the output signal and thus ensures that the frame rate is doubled. The new backlight blinking deactivates horizontal fields of the backlight for the inter-frame calculations and thus also ensures that the image is sharpened and is convincingly clear.

Eight speakers altogether – six main speakers and two woofers – provide sound on the KDL-55X4500. Its smaller brother, the KDL-46X4500 has four main speakers as well as two woofers and has no reason to hide behind the 55-inch model in terms of sound experience.
New standards in the upper middle class: BRAVIA W4500 series
The new 52, 46 and 40 inch (132, 117 and 102 centimetre) models in "draw the LINE" design has many innovations from the X4500 series and also convince through their image quality and range of features.
The BRAVIA ENGINE 2 provides a defined, impressively clear, colour-accurate image which is rich in contrast, whilst the Motionflow 100Hz technology ensures excellent motion sharpness. Unlike conventional 100-Hertz technologies, the Sony technology, with its "Image Blur Reduction" components, ensures that the original image is sharpened before duplication.
With the integrated network connection in the new DLNA-certified X4500 and W4500 models (Digital Living Network Alliance), images and music, for example from a VAIO laptop or another DLNA-compatible device can be enjoyed simply and conveniently on the BRAVIA.
The integrated DIGITAL MEDIA PORT offers the option to play back content from mobile end devices on the LCD TVs by means of various optional adapters. At the moment, adaptors are available for Bluetooth, WiFi, WALKMAN, Sony Ericsson mobile telephones and iPod.
Photos can be viewed on the televisions both via a USB stick and also through the direct connection of a Cyber-shot or other digital camera. Both new BRAVIA ranges come with Picture Frame Mode. This picture frame function transforms the televisions into the ideal frame for your favourite pictures – whether in the form of a slideshow or as a mural.
Regardless of whether the image is transmitted digitally via cable or via digital terrestrial signal - the BRAVIA LCDs do not require an additional set top box. An AVCHD receiver is integrated so that the televisions are already equipped for unencrypted HD broadcasts via DVB-C or DVB-T.
