Introduction

Currently, an increasing number of LCD monitors with TN panel (Twisted-Nematic) are entering the 19 inch segment. By offering low response times at mostly inexpensive prices, they are aimed at a broader group of buyers. But a lot of times, the cheap price comes at the cost of lacking features and ergonomics. The GNR TG900 however, is an exception to this.

The TN panel sporting GNR TG900 offers a very good set of features at a fair price. Part of it is an analog D-Sub input and a digital DVI input, the height-adjustable, tilt and swivel stand including pivot as well as integrated speakers. Furthermore, the GNR TG900 is furnished with a glass plate instead of the usual antireflective coating. The purpose of this glass plate is to protect the display from potential damages.

We have tested the GNR TG900 thoroughly and by issuing the following review we want to point out what some strengths and weaknesses of this device are and whether it can be recommended for home office as well as ambitioned gaming.

All results issued in this review have been established using the digital DVI input, with the exception of the test runs for analog image quality, which have been established on the analog input (D-Sub). Our test bed ran with a Sapphire Atlantis Radeon 9800 Pro graphics card.

Scope of supply

When complete, the scope of supply of the GNR TG900 comprises a D-Sub cable, an audio cable, a power cable as well as manual and a warranty card. A DVI cable needs to be purchased separately. Our particular review unit did not come with a manual; therefore, we can’t make any comments on that. After unpacking, one needs to plug the monitor arm into the stand where it locks in place firmly.
