REVIEW: NEC LCD1990FXp-BK
++ very good, + good, +/- satisfactory, - bad, -- very bad
Just recently we reviewed the LCD1990SXi - another product from NEC's 90s range - and were quite pleased with its performance. In today's review, we are going to scrutinize the NEC LCD1990FXp, which uses a PVA panel. Just for the sake of completeness, the third model of this particular series, the NEC LCD1990FX, should be noted here, too. Although its name may suggest similarity to the LCD1990FXp, the LCD1990FX is in reality a stripped-down version of the LCD1990SXi. All models and their features can be looked up side by side in our monitor comparison. For all models, the suffix "BK" merely denotes the color version "black".
NEC is advertising the LCD1990FXp as a high end monitor with ultra-slim bezel for use in finance or other multi-monitor setups. The monitor is available in two different versions: The LCD1990FXp has a silver front bezel and a light grey chassis, while in the LCD1990FXp-BK, both the front bezel and the chassis are black.
In our review, we are going to find out whether the LCD1990FXp can be rightfully called a high end monitor, what users may expect from this unit, and which model of the 90s series may be the right one for you.
The NEC LCD1990FXp is available in two different color versions: Black front bezel and black chassis (right picture) version; silver front bezel and light grey chassis (left picture).
All results issued in this review were established using the digital DVI input. Except for the analog image quality test, which were established on the analog input. All tests were done using a Gainward GS FX6800 Ultra video card.
