REVIEW: Asus VW223B![]()
++ very good, + good, +/- satisfactory, - bad, -- very bad * The high-frequency oprtational noise caused the model to lose marks . The manufacturing quality of the exterior is good (+).
Taiwanese electronics company Asus (AsusTeK Computer Inc.) is certainly a concept known to every PC owner. As well as mainboards, graphics cards, PDAs and laptops (recently also netbooks such as the Asus EEE PC), the company also produces LCD flat screens. With the Asus VW223B, the company is bringing a model to the market which comes with an integrated graphics chip and can be connected to the PC directly via USB, without the need for a graphics card. In addition, it is possible to connect up to six of these monitors in a row thanks to Asus EzLink software, which manages all models. In order to be able to assess the features of the VW223B, we procured two test samples. The monitors were tested on both an Asus GeForce 8600 GTS and on an nForce 6190 onBoard Chip. The monitor’s packaging has a practical handle on top for carrying. This means that if you buy the monitor directly, you can easily carry it without a car. Weighing a total of 6,6 kg, the monitor can certainly be transported on foot as long as you don’t have too far to walk.
As well as the equipment pictured above (VGA cable, USB cable, manual, driver CD, power cable), the base is included separately within the box and this reduces the size of the packaging enormously. In order to guarantee fast and easy initial use of the monitor, a manual is included. This is multi-lingual and well laid out. Because of the simplicity of the process, however, you can manage very well without the manual. The driver CD does not contain any monitor profiles. However, it does include the set-up data for the USB transfer software.
