REVIEW: Dell 2005FPW![]()
++ very good, + good, +/- satisfactory, - bad, -- very bad Widescreen displays are gaining increasing popularity since their 16:9 or 16:10 aspect ratios offer a broader field of vision than monitors in 4:3 or 5:4 formats which basically makes Widescreen display predestined for multimedia applications such as DVD playback. Furthermore, there are also a growing number of games that support widescreen picture formats and make use of the entire screen area, thus, adding to fun factor in games.
Advertisement With the 2005FPW, Dell is offering a 20.1 inch widescreen display with S-IPS panel at an excellent price. The 2005FPW has a native resolution of 1680 x 1050 which corresponds to an aspect ratio of 16:10. In this review, we want to elaborate on how the 20.1 inch Dell 2005FPW performs at everyday applications. All results issued in this review have been established using the digital input, with the exception of the test runs for analog image quality, which have been established on the analog input. Our test bed ran with a Gainward PowerPack! Ultra/2600 Golden Sample and a Sapphire Atlantis Radeon 9800 Pro graphics card. The Dell 2005FPW comes along with CD, DVI-D cable, D-Sub cable, USB cable, power cable and two sided sheet giving instructions in multiple languages on how to setup, connect and operate the Dell 2005FPW. The CD also contains a detailed multi-lingual manual in HTML format. The scope of supply can therefore be regarded as complete. Unfortunately, Dell is following the trend of other manufacturers by not including a detailed manual in printed form.
