REVIEW: NEC LCD20WGX2
++ very good, + good, +/- satisfactory, - bad, -- very bad
Although there are a large number of 20-inch widescreen LCDs on the market at the moment, the NEC MultiSync 20WGX2 truly stands out. Equipped with an S-IPS Panel, the NEC MultiSync 20WGX2 also boasts Rapid Response overdrive technology as well as an Image Aspect Ration of 16:10. However, the icing on the cake is its anti-glare hard-coated surface. We are really looking forward to seeing how good a picture the NEC 20WGX2 presents in practice.
The test results were obtained via a digital connection. An analogue connection was used solely to test the analogue image quality. Tests were run using a Sapphire Radeon X1950 XTX and two Point of View GeForce 7800GTX 512MB (SLI) graphics cards.
The NEC MultiSync 20WGX2 comes with the following: One DVI-D cable (digital), one D-Sub cable (analogue), one USB cable, a handbook with installation instructions, a leaflet with information on the "NaViSet" screen manager, a page containing support addresses and telephone numbers and a CD.
The CD contains the Windows monitor driver, a detailed handbook in PDF format, Adobe Reader and "NaViSet" screen manager software. Numerous language versions of the installation instructions and the detailed PDF handbook are included. It is fair to say that all the essentials are present.
With its silver, slightly rounded frame and black stand, the NEC 20WGX2 has a pleasant design. The back of the monitor is black, contrasting with the silver front.
The front of the NEC 20WG2 is simple and elegant.
