Deviations in colour are measured in deltaE 94 (dE). Various grey gradients, the primary (RGB) and the secondary (CMY) basic colours are measured. A deltaE value of 1 represents the smallest difference in colour that can be perceived by the human eye Most people notice a difference in colour from a value of 3. However, our eyes are more sensitive to green tones, so smaller differences can be perceived here The average deviation should be less than 3 dE and the maximum should be under 10 dE, or better still, under 6 dE. Up to 10 dE, two colours are still sufficiently similar.

As is unfortunately often the case with WCG displays, the factory settings are not optimised for sRGB display. The white value is considerably warmer than the target value, at 5710K. The deviations of the colour values are over 10 deltaE in one case (green), whilst the grey values are matched rather well.
The gamma value of 2,2 is exactly the same as the target. Overall, the result is not ideal, however it is better than the results delivered by the Eizo SX3031W in its factory settings.

Activating the sRGB mode does not make much of a difference. The deviation of the white point from the target value remains. Deviations for the colour values change, but remain almost at the same level on average.
The gamma value remains unchanged and therefore achieves the target. Similarly to the Eizo SX3031W, the NEC 3090WQXi therefore does not come with a really useable sRGB pre-defined mode.

When calibrated, the white point and gamma value are optimal. The average deltaE deviation can be reduced, but it is not ideal – which is not surprising given the extended colour space.
With an average deviation of 3,3 deltaE, the NEC 3090WQXi performs minimally better here than the Eizo SX3031W. Users who wish to work exclusively in sRGB should select a model without an extended colour space.
We made the following changes from the factory settings in the OSD: Brightness 55,1 %, R=215, G=242 and B=242. The gamma value remains at 2,2. "Evenness" is at level 3.
