Introduction

Widescreen monitors are more popular than ever before, with the trend heading towards larger screen diagonals and multimedia functions. As well as the usual PC inputs, video inputs, via which DVD-Player or games consoles can be connected, are increasingly more common in monitors.

Hyundai is also offering an inexpensive TN panel 24-inch monitor with a HDMI and a Component input (YPbPr) in the form of the W240D. The monitor also boasts height adjustment and pivot functions as additional ergonomic features.

Since Hyundai is far from the only manufacturer to offer such a model, the W240D must now prove itself against the competition in terms of image quality. With dynamic contrast enhancement to a value of 3,000:1 and a fast response time of 2 ms, this monitor has the best conditions to do so.

We tested the monitor in PC mode via DVI-D with a Sapphire Radeon X1950 XTX and a XFX GeForce 8800GTX. We also used a Philips DVD player DVP5980 and a Sony PlayStation 3 via the Component-Video and HDMI inputs for our test.
