REVIEW: Acer G24![]()
++ very good, + good, +/- satisfactory, - bad, -- very bad The 24-inch Acer G24 is, according to the manufacturer, perfectly tailored to meet the needs of demanding gamers and is set to make gamers’ hearts beat faster. The angular, futuristic design is an addition to the Predator Gaming PC series from Acer and lends the display a unique, aggressive character.
However, the G24 is also set to hit the headlines in other sectors. With a dynamic contrast ratio of up to 50.000:1 and 92 percent coverage of the perceptible colour space, the orange metallic screen offers some highlights. The Acer G24 comes with the 16:10 FullHD resolution of 1.920 x 1.200 pixels which is usual in the 24-inch sector and can be used to play back HD material. Thanks to its HDMI connection, games fans can also use the model for their hobby. You can learn whether the Acer G24 will prove to be worth the price of 450 Euro, which is rather high for a TN panel, in our, as always, detailed review. Given the monitor’s specialisation, we focused in particular on the model’s gaming performance.
Even the box in which the monitor arrives is truly eye-catching. In order to ensure that nothing goes wrong when the model is being unpacked, instructions are printed on the box. The Acer G24 comes in a noticeably printed, large box with a carrying handle and is stored inside between two Polystyrene pieces. As well as the 24-inch monitor, the box contains the base, a power cable, a DVI cable, a D-Sub cable, a Getting Started guide in several languages, a warranty card, a CD with the user guide and additional software and a further, illustrated, set-up guide. In order to begin using the TFT-Monitor, the user must simply slide the base onto the pillar located on the monitor and affix it using the screws included. Here, we discovered that the two screw holes do not lie precisely in line with each other, which meant that the screws had to be coaxed through with a considerable amount of intuition.
