Introduction

With the LG Flatron W2286L, LG is bringing its first LED backlight monitor to the market.

The data sheet of the 22-inch model reads well: The contrast of 2,000,000:1, the fast response time of just two milliseconds, the two HDMI connectors and the energy-saving, environmentally friendly LED backlight should make the elegantly designed monitor an ideal model for demanding multimedia users.

This review should clarify to what extent LG keeps its promises and whether the somewhat different, unique candidate can keep up with the competition.

All results published in the test were obtained via the digital input of a Powercolor ATI X1950Pro. The measurements for the calibration were carried out using the iColor software in connection with the DTP94 colorimeter from Quato as well as the "Colorimeter HCFR“software. For testing the video functions and the suitability of the model for gaming, the BDP-S350E Blu-ray player and the Playstation 3 from Sony were indispensible.

Scope of supply

The Flatron W2286L is delivered in a very slim, precisely fitting box. As is normal in most cases, the monitor and base are packed individually, separated by a layer of Styrofoam, which should prevent the screen from being scratched. Both elements are also packed in a plastic shell in order to protect the sensitive glossy surfaces from scratches.

Assembly takes place with ease by hand: the monitor must be slotted into the base and is then secured with a screw.

Just standard: the scope of supply of the Flatron W2286L.

Furthermore, the scope of supply includes a D-Sub VGA cable for the analogue connection and a DVI cable for the digital connection to the PC as well as an external power unit. Also included are the guarantee terms and a CD which contains the3 full manual in English, software and drivers.
