REVIEW: Dell 3008WFP Part 16
The Dell 3008WFP has an impressive range of features, the equal of which is not to be found. The manufacturing quality of the model is flawless and the mechanics function smoothly. The image quality is very good and the monitor is suitable for professional graphics applications as per UGRA.
The responsiveness of the Dell 3008WFP, too, gives no reason for criticism and should satisfy even most hardcore gamers. These will be especially pleased with the extraordinarily good interpolation quality including selectable interpolation behaviour.
Scaling in video mode is also perfect. No matter what input the image signal is played over, the result is convincing, the aspect ratio correct. Users who have games consoles can look forward to a gigantic, finely resolved image in high quality.
The Dell 3008WFP, with its characteristics and performance, comes very close to being the perfect all-round multimedia monitor. At the end it is just small details such as lacking 24p support or the changeable standby power consumption that stand between the Dell 3008WFP and perfection.
Given the very low price considering the features the model boasts, the competition in the 30-inch sector must be heating up: the Dell 3008WFP is the current Best in Class in the all-round sector and it also looks very elegant.
Overall rating: VERY GOOD
As a well-known test magazine for LCD monitors, we would like to point out the following problem which was made known to us thanks to information from our users, having gone unnoticed despite our extensive and precise test procedure: as our users reported, the image is sometimes truncated to the left and right by Overscan during scaling where material is played over the HDMI input of the Dell 3008WFP. This may be independent of the material played or the player device and its setup and output format and/or may be linked to the scaling function of the monitor itself. Unfortunately, we are unable to provide an exact analysis of the problem, since our test model is no longer available. We therefore ask for your understanding."
