The monitor offers the option to switch the gamma between PC and Mac. In the factory settings, PC delivers a gamma of 2,36 and Mac delivers a gamma of 2.11. Both values are increased and deviate from the manufacturer’s indication, but this can be corrected with ease through calibration and profiling.

In light of the results in the factory settings, we had hoped for an even better result in sRGB mode. Unfortunately, we were hugely disappointed. Although the grey values behave somewhat better and the gamma is also closer to the standard, but these are the only advantages. The white point deviates by 0,9 dE and the colour deviations are completely catastrophic. The deviation for green even exceeds our scale at 22,6 dE. Overall, the average deltaE for this profile is 7,1. If the sRGB mode is activated on the model, it can be seen straight away that the manufacturer has messed up here. All colours are not nearly saturated enough and look washed out. It is not possible to get much further from the sRGB standard. This monitor profile should not be used in any circumstances.

When the monitor is calibrated, the result can be improved further as compared with the factory settings. The white point and gamma value are almost perfect. The deviations in the grey values can be reduced considerably. No visible improvement can be made in the colour values. An average DeltaE of 4, is an acceptable result for a wide gamut display.
Significant results should also be sought in the colour spaces which use the monitor’s extended colour space.
