REVIEW: Fujitsu Siemens H22-1W![]()
++ very good, + good, +/- satisfactory, - bad, -- very bad TN panel, 5 ms response time and no height adjustment: this is what we already know about almost all available 22-inch LCD monitors. So what does the Fujitsu-Siemens Scaleoview H22-1W have to offer that the competition lacks and that justifies the monitor’s hefty price tag of 549.00 Euro (RRP)?
Advertisement If you glance quickly at the connectors and scope of supply of this monitor, it soon becomes clear what you get for the extra money: As well as the standard DVI-D and D-Sub inputs, the Scaleoview H22-1W also features numerous video connections including a HDMI connection and an S-Video input. As if that were not enough, Fujitsu-Siemens Computers (FSC) is also including integrated 8-watt speakers and headphone and microphone inputs in its new flagship 22-inch monitor. A USB hub for two USB devices is also present, and the monitor also boasts HDCP support and the Windows Vista certificate. Advertised with a full contrast ratio of 2,500:1, the FSC H22-1W represents –on paper, at least- serious competition for the Samsung 226BW we tested recently. Matte black with a power LED, frosted glass look and high-quality cable covering, this LCD is the equal of its rival even in design. We tested the FSC Scaleoview H22-1W via DVI-D connection with a Sapphire Radeon X850XT, 9800pro and an Nvidia 6600GT graphics card. Only the analogue image quality was tested via the D-Sub connection. Fujitsu-Siemens has spared no expense on the scope of supply for its 22-inch monitor and all necessary cables except for S-Video and video cables with the Scaleoview H22-1W: DVI-D, D-Sub, HDMI, two audio cables for connecting speakers or headphones and a microphone and a USB-cable for the integrated double USB hub are all present.
