REVIEW: Dell 2209WA (s) Part 3But that is not all. The rotating plate integrated into the base makes it possible to turn the screen 45 degrees left and right and there is even a pivot function in addition. This latter is certainly a useful feature with the integrated IPS panel, which allows for larger viewing angles. All settings can be made with a pleasant amount of power.
Maximum rotation left and right.
Pivot function on the Dell 2209WA. However, when turning the screen into portrait format, the user must ensure that the screen is tilted backwards before it is turned, since otherwise, the lower right corner of the monitor hits against the table. The height can also be adjusted in this setting, but only between 4,8 cm and 1,7 cm. Since the base requires little space, there is still room for the cables when the screen is turned.
The VESA100 fixture allows for other stands or brackets to be attached and is concealed by the base holder. Here, too, Dell has found an ideal solution with regard to the appearance of the monitor. The base is prevented from slipping on the desk surface with six rubber pads on its underside.
VESA100 fixture and underside of base. The design and mechanics on the Dell 2209WA make a very good impression. The sound produced by our test model was pleasantly low. Although a slight humming sound can be heard when you place your ear on the back of the monitor and special test images can cause the 2209WA to produce some slight sound, none of these sounds were distracting in any way. The brightness can be regulated between 0 and 100 percent soundlessly and the monitor also remains silent when in standby mode or switched off. However, it is well known that sound production is subject to variation within a series and therefore, this result cannot be guaranteed for all models of the same kind. However, we still have to make a slight criticism. The plastic sheet on top of the panel itself can be pushed back by a few millimetres when it is tapped lightly at the top or especially the bottom frame and thereby opens up a gap between the display frame and the panel. The protective layer also has a gap of about half a millimetre before it is pushed against. This means that dust and dirt, but also liquids, can make their way inside. This should be borne in mind when the monitor is being cleaned. The frame, which is about 5 mm in front, is subject to reflections despite its matte surface. This effect is clearly visible for the taskbar which is reflected in the front frame.
