Explanation of 3D views: the black grid represents the current standard colour space; the white grid represents the monitor’s colour space. The actual shared content of both colour spaces is indicated by the coloured cube. Where the black grid protrudes beyond the cube, the monitor’s colour space can no longer display the standard colour space. If the monitor colour space is larger than the current standard colour space, the white grid protrudes beyond the cube.

The sRGB colour space is covered perfectly by the Dell 3008WFP at 100 percent. When it comes to the AdobeRGB colour space, coverage is very good at 95,4 percent. However, this falls short of Dell’s claim to cover 100 percent – 4,6 percent is not covered.
The monitor falls considerably short of covering the very large ECI 2.0 colour space, with coverage of just 83 percent – but this is still good as compared with other monitors. Overall, the result is very good, especially when compared with monitors with 10-Bit LUTs.
Explanation of deltaE deviation
Colour deviation is measured in deltaE 94 (dE). Numerous grey gradients, the primary (RGB) and the secondary (CMY) basic colours are measured. A deltaE value of 1 represents the smallest difference in colour that can be discerned by the human eye. Most people only notice a difference from a value of 3. However, our eyes are especially sensitive to green tones, so smaller differences can be seen here. The average deviation should be under 3 dE, the maximum under 10 dE, or, better still, under 6 dE. Up to 10 dE, two colours are still sufficiently similar.

In the monitor’s factory settings ("Desktop"), the 3008WFP is still at a good level for the basic colours, whilst there are considerable deviations in both the primary and the secondary colours from the sRGB standard. Blue and Yellow are the only exceptions here. The colour temperature in particular is too warm for Internet and office work.
