Introduction

An enormously high contrast ratio of 3000:1 and a response time of just 2ms – these are the features Samsung is advertising for its 22-inch SyncMaster 226BW LCD monitor and they should awaken the interests of gamers and multimedia fans in particular.

The elegant 22-inch comes with a TN panel and is equipped with Overdrive. This does not just increase the response speed but also allows a contrast ratio of up 3,000:1 to be achieved.

You can read about how the Samsung 226BW performs in real life in our detailed review below.

Testing was done on two different systems, which were equipped with a Sapphire Radeon 9800pro and an MSI GeForce 6600GT respectively. Some tests were also run using a Sapphire Radeon X850XT. All test results other than for the testing of the analogue image were obtained via a digital DVI connection.

Scope of supply

The Samsung 226BW comes complete with all necessary cables. As well as the power cable, an analogue D-Sub cable and a digital DVI cable, the LCD comes with a Getting Started Guide, a set of illustrated assembly instructions a CD containing the monitor driver, a detailed instruction manual and even a cloth for cleaning the cover.
