REVIEW: Chimei CMV 222H![]()
++ very good, + good, +/- satisfactory, - bad, -- very bad Until now, Chi Mei Optoelectronics (CMO) has been known in Germany as a producer and supplier of LCD panels. Panel technology from the Taiwanese company is used in the monitors of many manufacturers. With its Chimei CMV 222H, CMO is now bringing its own flat screen monitor to the German market, which joins the ranks of 22-inch widescreen TN monitors, which have already grown to huge proportions.
Advertisement In our review, we will see whether Chimei manages to outdo its numerous competitors. Apart from the analogue image playback quality, which we tested on the analogue connection (VGA) of the monitor, all test results published here were obtained via the digital signal input (HDMI). We used an ATI Sapphire Radeon X1950 PRO 512MB with the latest driver for our tests. The accessories delivered with the Chimei CMV 222H include the usual power cable with continental two-pin plug as well as a three-pin plug for US sockets. A D-Sub cable for analogue signal transmission, an audio cable for the speakers and a USB data cable for the integrated card reader are also included. Unfortunately, no HDMI cable for digital signal transmission is delivered with the monitor. We also looked for a HDMI/DVI adapter in vain. A Getting Started Guide is included in hard copy. The PDF user manual which appears on the CD-ROM that comes with the monitor is a little more detailed, but still too brief for our taste.
